Geheim Blockchain Evenement de drie Nederlandse Grootbanken

Op de 27e januari 2015 heeft 1 van de de drie grootbanken samen met Ordina en Bitonic een presentatie over de Blockchain technologie.
We gaan er vanuit dat dit wederom door Ordina wordt georganiseerd, echte staat dit niet op hun evenement planning
Het ziet er naar uit dat Banken zoals ABN AMRO erg geïnteresseerd zijn in blockchain technologie en met name de prille en achterliggende techniek. Mogelijk zullen de drie groobanken het kunstje afkijken en zelf een coin introduceren, net zoals ze dat jaren geleden met succes iDEAL aan de man brachten.
Mocht dit zo zijn zal een munt uiteraard voor gemined worden en dan pas uitgegeven worden zodat de waarde goed door de banken te bepalen is, althans dat is onze visie er op.

Inhoud van deze Sessie
Onder de naam, "De Mogelijkheden van de Blockchain zijn eindeloos"
Maar wat is de Blockchain technologie precies?
Wat willen de banken hiermee en wat hebben we (hiervoor nodig)?
Een jaar na de Virtual Currency Challenge willen we als Innovation Centre kort delen wat het afgelopen jaar is gebeurd, maar vooral jullie meenemen in de wereld van de blockchain technologie.

Wie zijn er allemaal uitgenodigd?
- Sander van Loosbroen (Nijenrode MBA): Wat is er met de blockchain technologie allemaal mogelijk
- Daniel Mes (Ordina): Wat is het Ripple Payment Protocol en de stellar public infrastructure for money?
- Jouke Hofman van Bitcoin: Hoe werkt de Blockchain achter de Bitcoin
De sessie wordt een combinatie van presentaties en dialoog

Er is geen locatie bekend, maar ik gok bij Ordina.

2x Excalibur 5 miners Avarage hashing speed is 255 - 263 Mhash.

Mining Asics Technologies verstuurd mondjesmaat miners naar zijn klanten, het is duidelijk dat niet iedereen tevreden is met de verlate levering van de miners.

Ik kwam op Bitcointalk een hele mooie foto tegen die ik jullie toch wil laten zien.
Volgens de eigenaar Xircom tussen de 255 - 263 Mhash met een hoge pool Difficulty

A pimped UI for the KnC Titan miner

Peter af Geijerstam, a developer who specializes in computer security, has released a new UI for the KnCMiner Titan ASIC, called KnCMinion, as an alternative to the standard old-fashioned user-interface of the device. His more up to date interface does not replace the original Titan UI, just adds a more modern and beautiful UI with the more important information available in a graphical form, not just plain text.

The original interface only provides the most basic information. (The HTML is, by the way, generated by a server-side bash-script, yuck!)

The KnCMinion interface is located in a subdirectory (/kncminion) and is designed to provide a bit more information. It creates client-side graphs of historical values as long as the page is open (it will start empty each time, as no data is stored on the Titan). KncMinion is built using CoffeeScript, AngularJS, D3.js, Bootstrap and jQuery and adapts to different resolutions and devices.

The top graph is the total hashrate (in MHs) for the miner. The smaller graphs below represent the hash-rate of each individual die for every cube on the Titan (4 dies per cube). In my case one die is not working for one cube, hence only 15 graphs. Each graph displays the min/max and current value for the selected duration.

Peter af Geijerstam: When developing KnCMinion, I came across some things about the Titan that made my life easier but also posed some security-risks.

Problem
KnCMinion is packaged as a firmware-upgrade file, but it only adds new files to the web-server and does not touch any existing files or affect anything mining-related.

The problem here is that I, without any connection to KnC, was able to create a valid firmware-upgrade file that can be installed on the Titan.
This means that i could create a custom package and trick people to install something that is malicious, for example a custom BFGMiner that mines for me when they are not looking or something that lets me access their network.

Solution
Best-practice regarding upgrade-files that execute with root-privileges are that they should be signed, and the signature should be checked before executing code and writing files to persistent storage.

Download Firmware-image(s) are available on github: https://github.com/p4fg/kncminion/releases.
Just download the file and upload it as any other firmware upgrade. As it only adds files to the web-server it is compatible with all current official firmware releases.

As this in fact means that you are installing non-sanctioned, unsigned software on your Titan, you really should inspect the contents of the firmware-file. It is a standard .tar.gz and can be unpacked with standard tools on linux or with 7-zip on Windows.

It was anticipated that VertCoin (VTC) will hardfork to the new Lyra2RE algorithm at around 16th this month at block 208301, however we have reached the fork a bit earlier. So if you are mining VertCoin you should switch to the new Lyra2RE GPU miners and to pools that have already switched to the new algorithm. Some people have anticipated that after the fork the price of VTC will increase, but this did not happen as currently VertCoin is quite profitable to mine and sell directly and apparently a lot of people are doing exactly this resulting in exchange rate dropping. This is just the week day after the fork, so we should wait and see how the Lyra2RE fork will affect VTC – will it help the coin or on the contrary.

Vertcoin heeft de afgelopen week een fork ondergaat waardoor de coin van scrypt is veranderd.
De rede hiervan is onduidelijk en nogal dubieuze. Het kan toch niet zo zijn dat een paar mensen beslissen dat een coin van protocol veranderd, kortom lekker gedecentraliseerd allemaal..not!
Het verbruik van Lyra2RE zou lager zijn bij minen dan n-scrypt, dit is door de paar mensen in de Vertcoin community aangedragen en daarvoor de fork rechtvaardigen.
Dit is gewoon onzin en te wijten aan slechte drivers en ondersteuning van miner software.
Toch is Vertcoin een interessante coin en aangezien het minen nu een stuk lastiger is wellicht een goed moment om bij te kopen.

PBMining (Piggyback Mining) In zwaar zeer, Ponzi Scheme, Afpersing!?

Het zeer bekende Piggyback Mining is in zwaar weer beland. Gebruikers kunnen hun tegoeden niet meer uitbetalen en sommige account zijn geheel kwijt.

Insolvent
Het ziet er naar uit dat PBMining insolvent is geraakt. Er was al lang sprake dat ze een soort Ponzi Scheme uitvoerde aangezien er maar mager weinig bewijs is dat ze miners hebben staan.

Ponzi Scam
Bij een Ponzi Scheme of Ponzo scam betaald de dienstverlener rendement uit aan de eerdere afnemers van de financiële service.
Bitcoinupdate heeft al meerdere keren return on investment gehaald bij PBMining. Voor ons is er dan ook geen echte Financiele strop gelukkig (wel jammer van de hashpower)

Afpersing en Zelfmoord
De eigenaar van PBMining schreef ons het volgende:
Unfortunately the extreme harassment and threats since the posting of a Facebook profile with friends/family information has lead to some horrible losses thanks to some very shady people with unreasonable demands. This is an attempt to reach out and give customers what is left, even if it means liquidating personal assets to help. I will start the process now of looking at customers on a case-by-case basis and doing what I can to help. Any refunds in December will be aimed at those who have suffered "extreme" losses due to reduced payout. I will begin to look at the remaining majority of accounts in January.

Questions may go unanswered for awhile, but that is because there is a lot of work to do. Please be patient. Unfortunately it will be impossible to make everyone happy but a very honest attempt will be made.

For those who are wondering, the owner is not laughing all the way to Mexico. Losses have been substantial due to complete invasion of privacy and some very harsh blackmail that followed thereafter, involving thoughts of suicide over some matters, but there will be a strong attempt to make things right even if it is unsuccessful.

Hey, wacht jullie van Bitcoinupdate hebben toch een mining contract van PBMining!?

Tot slot na het lezen van de mail van de CEO denk ik dat het doek gevallen is voor PBMining.
Over er echt afpersing is geweest of dat het juist een Ponzi scheme is is nog moeilijk te bepalen.
Waarschijnlijk een combinatie van beide. De mailing is ook terug te vinden op bitcointalk

We hebben Zondag een betaling van PBMining gehad wat een 56e deel is van de week daarvoor.
Er beginnen steeds meer aanwijzingen voor een Ponzi Scam te komen.
